LSU Hires New Baseball Coach!

Paul Mainieri has just become the 25th head baseball coach at LSU. Former LSU baseball coach and now A.D. Skip Bertman went on a 3 week nationwide search to find a replacement for Smoke Laval who was fired after falling to make the regionals this year. This was the first year in 18 that the Tigers didn't make the regionals.

Following Skip's legacy ain't easy. 5 National Championships in 10 years!

What I find so cool is that LSU got a head coach from the "almighty" Notre Dame University. Unbelievable! Who would have thought that a "successful" head coach would leave ND to come to LSU? Not me.
Another cool fact is that he played baseball and met his future wife while attending LSU his freshmen year. He later transferred to Miami Dade JC so he could play for his dad who was the head baseball coach at that time.

Better to Give than Receive

Wow! First Bill Gates announces he is stepping down from Microsoft Corp to concentrate on his charity foundation. Then days later, Warren Buffett announces he is "GIVING" up to 37BILLION dollars in gifts. A portion will go directly to the Gates Foundation. Apparently Gates and Buffett have been good friends since they first met in1991.

Me thinks it's time to start a charity!

Webster's definition of charity: 1. Christian love for God and man. 2. act or feeling of generosity. 3. The giving of aid to the poor.

It does my heart good to see wealthy men like these realize the importance of" giving back" to society. They know that they have in their hands the ability and resources to make a difference in the world, and that there are more important things than just working to get wealthy.
Hopefully, this will cause all of us to be a little more giving and a little less acquiring.

Ann Coulter on the Radio

Ann Coulter was on a local radio station this week promoting her new book Godless. She was asked by one of the host if she went overboard in describing the four 911 widows as capitalizing on the deaths of their loved ones. She responded by stating that the Republicans in Congress and the Senate have way more "war" veterans than the Democrats do, yet you never here them use their experiences to bring attention to themselves like Murtha and Kerry continually do... Good point.

I'm not a big fan of Ann. Mainly, due to her personality. I think she makes very valid points at times but the way she expresses it just rubs me wrong. To me, she tends to go a little over the top when she debates those on the left. Kinda like the exact opposite of Franken.
But you got to respect her, she continues to stand her ground against daily ruthless attacks. She's a trooper! Maybe that's why she always seems so cranky on TV.

Must Read Books

I have just finished reading two incredible Christian books, "90 minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper and "23 minutes in Hell" by Bill Wiese. Two very different and real life stories of two very different and real destinations.

Don's car was crushed by a semi when it crossed into his lane. For 90 minutes he experienced the glories of heaven, until he was brought back to life by the prayer of a pastor who just so happen to be passing by that day.
Bill, while laying on his bed one night, found himself in a dark, putrid, rotten, prison cell sorrounded by terrorizing demons, who continually tortured him until the hand of God lifted him out.

Everybody is curious about the afterlife. These two books give a vivid picture, in detail, of what happens to you when you die. As you will see, both books appear to be "totally" scriptural.

My First Blog

Well, here goes nothing! Finally, after months of contemplating I have decided on a blog title. I'm not real excited about it, but I guess it will just have to do for now.
